The ANDERSON METALS CORP 738119-1206 is a red brass reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different diameters in a single inline fitting. It transitions from a 3/4 inch female connection to a 3/8 inch female connection, making it a practical component in water supply, plumbing distribution, and related fluid-handling systems. The fitting is manufactured from red brass, a copper-zinc-tin alloy known for corrosion resistance in potable water applications. It meets the lead free requirements of Public Law 111-380, making it suitable for use in drinking water systems where lead content restrictions apply. Plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a pipe or tubing run changes from 3/4 inch to 3/8 inch. Typical applications include branch lines off a main supply, fixture supply connections, and retrofit installations where existing pipe sizes differ. The fitting ships in bulk packaging with a package quantity of 5 units per pack, suited for service contractors and plumbers who need multiple fittings on hand for a job.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit reducing coupling for residential and commercial plumbing systems using 3/4 inch and 3/8 inch pipe connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before beginning any fitting work. Thread sealant tape or pipe compound rated for potable water should be applied to threaded connections as appropriate. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
