The ANDERSON METALS CORP 738119-0804 is a lead-free brass reducing coupling designed to connect a 1/2-inch female iron pipe (FIP) thread to a 1/4-inch female iron pipe (FIP) thread. Machined from rough brass, this fitting reduces pipe size within a threaded plumbing assembly. It meets the lead-free requirements of Public Law 111-380, making it suitable for potable water systems where lead content compliance is required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting when transitioning between two different threaded pipe sizes in a pressurized line.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a threaded pipe run changes from a larger nominal diameter to a smaller one. Typical applications include supply line transitions, fixture rough-in work, and branch line reductions in copper or steel threaded systems. The 1/2-inch to 1/4-inch reduction is common in water supply, compressed air, and similar fluid-handling assemblies. This fitting ships in a package quantity of 5 units.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded replacement fitting for residential and commercial plumbing systems using standard NPT female pipe thread connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male pipe threads before assembly. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as excessive force can crack the fitting body.
