The ANDERSON METALS CORP 714042-08 is a 1/2-inch by 1/2-inch brass flare union designed for flare-to-flare connections in gas, refrigeration, and fluid distribution lines. Both ends accept standard flare fittings, creating a removable, leak-resistant joint without soldering. The union is manufactured as a lead-free compliant product meeting Public Law 111-380, making it suitable for potable water and other regulated applications. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and gas fitters use this type of fitting when a disconnectable union joint is required between two flared tubing runs. Each package contains 10 units and is carded for point-of-use storage.
This brass flare union is suited for residential and light commercial installations involving copper or compatible soft tubing. Typical applications include natural gas and LP gas line connections, refrigerant line assemblies, and potable water distribution where lead-free compliance is required by code. The flare-both-ends design allows the fitting to serve as a service union, giving technicians a clean disconnect point during system maintenance or component replacement.
Designed as a standard OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for 1/2-inch flare tubing applications in residential and commercial gas, refrigerant, and potable water piping systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician. Shut off the gas supply or isolate the water system and depressurize the line before disassembly. Flare connections require properly flared tubing ends and the correct flare nut — do not over-tighten, as brass flare seats can distort. Follow applicable local codes, including IFGC requirements for gas piping and IPC standards for potable water systems.
