The ANDERSON METALS 756123-0806 is a reducing hex nipple machined from red brass, designed to connect two male pipe thread (MPT) fittings of different sizes. The hex shoulder provides a secure wrench flat for tightening without deforming the fitting body. Sized to transition from 1/2 inch male pipe thread to 3/8 inch male pipe thread, this nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, hydronic, and gas-distribution applications where a compact threaded reduction is required. Manufactured to a weighted average lead content of no more than 0.25% on wetted surfaces, it meets low-lead compliance requirements for potable water systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers.
This fitting is used wherever a threaded piping run must step down from 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch in a single fitting. Common applications include supply line transitions at fixtures, valve inlets, water heater connections, and manifold outlets. The hex-shoulder design allows installation in tight spaces where standard nipples would require additional clearance for a pipe wrench. The fitting is sold individually and is also available in bags for multi-unit jobs or stocking inventory.
Designed as a standard-thread OEM-style reducing nipple compatible with any 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch NPT female-threaded fittings, valves, or fixtures in residential and commercial plumbing piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before threading this fitting into place. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten; use the hex shoulder with a properly sized wrench to seat the fitting without cracking the mating female fitting.
