The ALVORD POLK 03085 is a solid pilot counterbore designed for precision counterboring operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this tool delivers consistent cutting performance on standard socket-head cap screw seat preparation. The counterbore diameter measures 0.6496 inches with a standard pilot diameter of 0.4134 inches, sized for M10 or 0.3937-inch socket-head cap screws. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.5 inches in diameter, and the tool runs 7 inches in overall length. Forward cutting direction and a solid pilot construction make this a reliable choice for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working to precise tolerances.
This counterbore is suited for job shop, production machining, and maintenance environments where socket-head cap screw clearance holes require a clean, flat-bottomed seat. It is compatible with 0.3937-inch (10 mm) socket-head cap screws and fits standard milling machines, drill presses, and machining centers equipped with a 0.5-inch shank holder or collet. The solid pilot design maintains concentricity between the pilot hole and the counterbore, making it appropriate for close-tolerance work in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials.
Designed for use with 0.3937-inch (10.00 mm) socket-head cap screws. Fits machine setups with a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank holder or collet.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists or maintenance technicians on standard machine tool equipment. Secure the shank firmly in a collet or chuck rated for the shank diameter before operation. Ensure the workpiece is properly fixtured and the pilot hole is drilled to the correct diameter prior to counterboring. Power down and lock out the machine before changing or inspecting tooling.
