The ALTRONIX CORP EBRIDGE400PCRM is a 4-channel Ethernet over Coax (EoC) receiver with passive Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) support, operating at 100Mbps. It functions as a media converter, allowing IP network devices to transmit data and receive power over existing coaxial cable infrastructure. This eliminates the need to run new Cat5e or Cat6 cabling in installations where coax is already in place. Licensed electricians and low-voltage security technicians are the primary installers for this type of equipment, commonly deploying it during IP camera system upgrades or new structured cabling projects.
The EBRIDGE400PCRM is suited for commercial and residential security, surveillance, and networking applications where legacy coaxial cable runs are being repurposed for IP-based systems. It supports four independent channels, making it practical for multi-camera or multi-device deployments from a single unit. Typical installation scenarios include upgrading analog CCTV infrastructure to IP camera systems without full recabling, as well as network extension projects where running new data cable is cost-prohibitive or structurally impractical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-deployment media converter for EoC-based IP networking and surveillance systems that utilize passive PoE+ over coaxial cable.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage technician or electrician familiar with NEC guidelines for data and power distribution. De-energize all connected devices and disconnect power sources before making or breaking coaxial and network connections. Verify that connected PoE+ devices are compatible with passive PoE+ voltage levels before powering the system, as passive PoE does not negotiate voltage like active 802.3at standards. Secure the unit in a protected enclosure or rack mount location to prevent physical damage and moisture exposure.
