The ALORIS EA-1 is a heavy-duty turning and facing holder designed for use on engine lathes with a swing of 25 inches and up. It mounts to a quick-change tool post system and rigidly positions turning and facing tools at a consistent centerline height of 2-11/16 inches. The holder accepts tool bit shanks ranging from 3/4 inch to 1-1/2 inches, with a maximum cutting tool size of 1-1/2 inches. At 7 inches overall length and 4 inches overall height, it is sized for large-capacity lathes found in production shops and heavy maintenance environments. Licensed machinists and toolroom operators are the primary installers and users.
The EA-1 is suited for metalworking applications on large engine lathes requiring precise and repeatable tool positioning during turning and facing operations. It is part of the Series EA quick-change tool post system, which is engineered for larger lathes with swings of 25 inches or greater. Typical use environments include job shops, production machining facilities, and industrial maintenance departments where consistent tool height and fast changeover are operational priorities.
Designed for use with Series EA quick-change tool post systems on engine lathes with a swing of 25 inches and up.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before mounting or adjusting any tool holder, confirm the lathe is fully powered down and the spindle is locked. Secure the holder to the quick-change tool post per the tool post manufacturer's clamping procedure and verify tool centerline height before taking a cut. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine guarding requirements during setup.
