The ALORIS DA is a wedge-type quick change tool post designed for engine lathes with a swing range of 17 to 48 inches. It mounts to the compound rest and allows the operator to swap toolholders rapidly without losing position, with a repeatability of 0.0001 inches. The tool post stands 8.75 inches overall, with a tool post height of 7.625 inches and a centerline height range of 2.6875 to 3.6875 inches. The wedge-locking mechanism indexes to 24 positions around the post. This Series DA unit is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on mid- to large-bore manual lathes.
The DA series tool post is suited for production and job-shop environments where frequent tool changes are required without sacrificing rigidity or repeatability. The 24-position indexing and wedge-lock design keep toolholders firmly seated during turning, facing, boring, and threading operations. The 1-inch bolt hole diameter accommodates standard compound rest stud configurations found on a wide range of industrial engine lathes in the 17-to-48-inch swing class. A mounting wrench is included to secure the post at installation.
Designed for engine lathes with a swing range of 17 to 48 inches that accept a 1-inch compound rest stud and are compatible with Series DA quick change toolholders.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the lathe before removing the existing tool post or any compound rest hardware. Use the included mounting wrench to seat and torque the post securely to the compound rest stud. Verify centerline height alignment to the spindle centerline before taking the first cut.
