The ALORIS DA-41 is a boring bar holder designed for use with Series DA quick-change tool posts on engine lathes. It accepts a 2-inch boring bar and accommodates a 1.5-inch boring bar when used with a bushing. The holder stands 3.5 inches overall height with an overall length of 5.875 inches, and it fits lathes with a swing range of 17 to 48 inches. The centerline height is 1.75 inches. At 18.13 pounds, this is a heavy-duty holder suited for production and job-shop turning operations. Licensed machinists and lathe operators install this holder as part of a quick-change tooling system to reduce setup time between boring operations.
The DA-41 is intended for use on engine lathes in the 17 to 48 inch swing range and pairs with Series DA quick-change tool posts. It is a common choice in both production shops and maintenance machine shops where boring operations require repeatable tool positioning. The holder does not include through-coolant capability, making it appropriate for dry or flood-coolant external application setups.
Designed for use with ALORIS Series DA quick-change tool posts on engine lathes with a swing of 17 to 48 inches.
A qualified machinist should install this holder on a Series DA quick-change tool post with the lathe powered off and locked out. Verify boring bar clamping screws are torqued to the tool post manufacturer specifications before taking a cut. Confirm centerline height alignment to the lathe spindle centerline before beginning any boring operation. When using the bushing for smaller bar sizes, ensure the bushing is fully seated and clamped to prevent movement under load.
