The ALORIS DA-4 is a Series DA boring bar holder designed for use on engine lathes and turret lathes. It accepts boring bars up to 1-1/2 inches in diameter and supports a lathe swing range of 17 to 48 inches, making it suitable for a wide range of shop lathes. Overall height is 3-1/4 inches and overall length is 5-7/8 inches. The centerline height measures 1-5/8 inches. This holder mounts to a compatible Series DA quick-change tool post and is installed by machinists and tool and die professionals in production and job-shop environments. It does not include through-coolant capability.
The DA-4 is used in metalworking applications where a dedicated boring bar holder is needed for internal turning, boring, and hole finishing operations. It fits standard Series DA quick-change tool post systems found on lathes with a swing between 17 and 48 inches. With a bushing installed, the holder accommodates boring bars down to 1-1/4 inches in diameter, expanding its range of usable tooling. This holder is a common fixture in both manual and semi-automated lathe setups in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and tool rooms.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Before mounting or removing any tool holder, shut down the lathe, disengage the spindle, and confirm the machine is fully stopped. Secure the boring bar in the holder using the appropriate set screw torque as specified by the tool post manufacturer. Verify centerline height alignment with a reference gauge before taking a cut.
