The ALORIS AXA19 is an adjustable knurling holder designed for use with AXA-series quick-change tool post systems on engine lathes. It accommodates lathes with a swing capacity of 12 inches and under, with an overall height of 1-3/4 inches and a centerline height of 2.0 inches. The AXA19 allows the operator to position the knurling tool at the correct angle and pressure for consistent knurl formation on a workpiece. It is installed and used by machinists and toolmakers working on manual engine lathes in job shop, production, and maintenance environments. The holder weighs 5.63 pounds and is built to fit the AXA quick-change tool post standard.
The AXA19 is suited for manual engine lathes in the AXA size range, which typically covers lathes with a swing up to 12 inches. It is used in job shops, machine shops, and maintenance facilities where knurling operations are performed on shafts, handles, and other cylindrical workpieces. The adjustable design allows the knurling head to be repositioned without removing the holder from the tool post, reducing setup time between operations. Through-coolant is not supported on this holder.

Installation is performed by a machinist familiar with quick-change tool post systems. Power down and bring the lathe spindle to a full stop before mounting or adjusting any tool post holder. Secure the holder firmly in the quick-change tool post before engaging the workpiece. Verify centerline height alignment with the lathe spindle centerline before beginning a knurling pass.
