The ALORIS AXA-2 is a boring, turning, and facing holder designed for use with AXA-series quick-change tool posts on engine lathes with a swing of 12 inches and under. Built for production and maintenance shop environments, this holder accepts tool bits ranging from 3/16 to 1/2 inch and accommodates boring bars up to 1-1/2 inches in diameter. The centerline height of 15/16 inch keeps cutting tools on center with minimal shimming. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians install this holder as part of a quick-change tooling setup to reduce turnaround time between operations.
The AXA-2 holder is suited for small to mid-size manual engine lathes in job shops, maintenance facilities, and apprenticeship training environments. It handles general-purpose turning and facing operations as well as light to moderate boring work. The AXA series is a widely adopted quick-change standard, making this holder a common addition to existing AXA-series tool post setups. A 7/16 inch shank size and a maximum cutting tool size of 1/2 inch define its working envelope for typical production tasks.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Disconnect and lock out the lathe before mounting or adjusting any tooling. Seat the holder fully into the quick-change tool post and confirm the locking cam is fully engaged before starting the spindle. Verify tool height alignment at the spindle centerline before taking a cut.
