The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING XTP26-27.40 is a solid carbide spade drill insert engineered for high-performance hole-making in steel workpieces. Part of the GEN3SYS XT Pro series, this insert features a 27.4 mm (1-5/64 inch) cutting diameter and a Seat Size 26 shank interface. The AM420 PVD coating delivers elevated wear resistance and thermal stability during aggressive drilling cycles. With a 140-degree point angle optimized for steel, this insert reduces thrust forces and helps maintain hole quality across long production runs. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible GEN3SYS XT Pro spade drill holders as part of a modular boring and drilling system.
This insert is suited for production machining environments where steel components require precise, repeatable through-holes or blind holes. The GEN3SYS XT Pro platform is designed for use on CNC machining centers, turning centers with live tooling, and dedicated drill presses operating under controlled feed and speed parameters. Its solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for both general steel fabrication shops and high-volume manufacturing operations where insert life and dimensional consistency are critical priorities. Tooling engineers and CNC machinists are the primary installers of this product.
Designed for use with GEN3SYS XT Pro series Seat Size 26 spade drill holders. Primary workpiece material compatibility is steel (ISO material code P). Confirm holder seat size and series designation before installation.
Installation and replacement of spade drill inserts should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians with the machine in a safe, powered-down or locked-out state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and seat screw hardware for the GEN3SYS XT Pro holder to ensure proper insert seating. Inspect the holder pocket and seat surfaces for chips or debris before inserting the new blade. Do not exceed the cutting parameters recommended for the holder and workpiece material combination.
