The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING TM37516 is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal UNC threads at the 3/8-16 specification. Built from solid carbide with a TiAlN coating, it is engineered for dimensional accuracy and extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The tool features 4 right-hand flutes and a 0.285-inch cutting diameter on a 0.312-inch shank. With a 0.75-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length, this thread mill suits CNC machining centers where a single tool must produce a complete thread profile in one helical interpolation pass. Machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
This thread mill is suited for internal thread milling operations in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is used in applications where thread tapping is impractical due to material hardness, blind-hole depth constraints, or the need to produce a range of thread depths from a single tool. The UNC 3/8-16 thread standard makes it applicable across a wide range of structural, mechanical, and industrial fastening applications. No coolant-through feature is present, so flood or mist coolant at the spindle is the standard approach for chip evacuation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use thread mill for CNC machining center applications requiring internal UNC 3/8-16 thread milling with a 0.312-inch shank toolholder.
This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Secure the shank in a properly sized ER collet or end mill holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before use. Helical interpolation programming is required at the CNC controller — confirm the correct thread mill cycle, pitch, and compensation offset before cutting. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each run; solid carbide tools are brittle and should not be dropped or subjected to lateral shock during handling or storage.
