The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING TM20250 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for cutting both internal and external metric threads. Built with 4 right-hand flutes and a TiAlN coating, it delivers thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding machining environments. The cutter runs a 0.495-inch cutting diameter with a 1.25-inch length of cut and a 3.5-inch overall length. Shank diameter is 0.5 inches. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop settings where metric thread milling is required in place of traditional tapping.
The TM20250 is suited for M20 x 2.50 metric thread applications in both internal and external configurations. Its helical flute geometry supports chip evacuation during threading operations. Minimum nominal diameter for this tool is 0.7874 inches (20.00 mm), making it appropriate for threading bores and external diameters at or above that threshold. Coolant-through capability is not included, so external or flood coolant delivery should be planned at setup. This tool is a fit for ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where TiAlN coating provides a performance advantage at elevated cutting temperatures.
Designed as an OEM-specification thread mill for M20 x 2.50 metric thread applications requiring a 0.5-inch shank diameter toolholder and a minimum bore or feature diameter of 0.7874 inches (20.00 mm).
Installation and use of this tool is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the 0.5-inch shank in a compatible collet chuck or end mill holder with appropriate runout tolerance before operation. Program thread milling cycles according to the machine control and verify pitch, direction, and depth parameters against the M20 x 2.50 specification before cutting. Do not use this tool without adequate flood or mist coolant directed at the cutting zone, as coolant-through is not available on this tool.
