This porting insert is suited for machining SAE and ISO-standard straight-thread O-ring boss (ORB) ports found in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Primary workpiece material compatibility spans universal applications, covering steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and non-metallic materials as indicated by ISO workpiece codes H, K, N, and P. It is commonly used in CNC turning, milling, and dedicated porting operations on hydraulic manifold blocks, cylinders, and valve bodies in both industrial and mobile equipment environments.
Designed for use with J1926-series porting toolholders and systems conforming to SAE J-1926, SAE J-2244-1, ISO 11926-1, ISO 6149, JDS-G173.1, MS-33649, and SAE AS5202 standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with indexable insert systems. Ensure the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can cause improper seating and premature edge failure. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert.
