The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C51T-0024 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in steel and hard materials. Built to T-A Series seat size 1 specifications, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating that extends cutting life and reduces heat buildup at the tip. The carbide substrate is graded C5 (P40), making it well-suited for interrupted cuts and demanding production environments. At 0.1563 inches thick and 3/4 inch in diameter, this insert fits directly into compatible T-A Series spade drill holders used in machining operations across metalworking and manufacturing facilities.
This insert is intended for use in ferrous machining applications, including production drilling of steel and hard workpiece materials. It is commonly used in CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and dedicated drill presses where repeatable hole geometry and insert interchangeability are priorities. The spade drill format allows for through-coolant delivery when paired with an appropriate holder, supporting chip evacuation in deep-hole applications. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in steel fabrication, job shops, and production lines are the primary installers and users.
Designed for use with T-A Series seat size 1 spade drill holders. Confirm holder seat size and diameter range before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat surfaces on the holder should be inspected and cleaned before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout. Follow the holder manufacturer's torque and clamping guidelines for the insert screw. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as they can cause holder damage or workpiece injury.
