The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 7C224P-25CI is a solid carbide spade drill insert engineered for high-performance drilling in cast iron workpieces. Designed for use in the GEN3SYS XT spade drill system, this insert features a 140-degree point angle and an AM300 PVD coating applied over a C2 (K20) carbide grade substrate. The AM300 coating is formulated for extended tool life in ferrous and cast iron cutting applications. At 0.029 pounds, this is a precision insert intended for professional machining environments where dimensional accuracy and insert-to-holder consistency are critical. It measures 1.75 inches in length, 1.63 inches in width, and 0.75 inches in height.
This insert is sized at 63/64 inches in diameter and fits Seat Size 24 holders in the GEN3SYS XT platform. It is designed primarily for drilling cast iron, as indicated by the K-series workpiece material classification. Typical applications include production machining, job shop drilling, and OEM component manufacturing where cast iron bores are a regular operation. This insert is used by machinists and CNC operators working with vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, and drill presses equipped with compatible GEN3SYS XT toolholders.
Designed for use with Allied Machine and Engineering GEN3SYS XT spade drill holders accepting Seat Size 24 inserts. Optimized for primary use in cast iron (K-series) workpiece materials per the manufacturer grade classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat and clamping surfaces on the holder should be free of chips, debris, and coolant residue before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw and do not exceed the recommended spindle speeds for the insert diameter and workpiece material.
