The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 7C218P-.765 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding machining applications. Built to GEN3SYS XT series specifications, this insert features a 140-degree point angle and an AM300 PVD coating applied over a C2 (K20) carbide grade substrate. The combination of coating and carbide grade makes this insert well-suited for applications where tool life and hole quality are critical. At 49/64 inches in diameter with a seat size 18 designation, it installs into compatible GEN3SYS XT spade drill bodies used on CNC lathes, machining centers, and similar machine tools.
This insert is intended for use on CNC machining centers, turning centers, and drill presses where spade-style drilling is preferred for productivity and cost-per-hole efficiency. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium. These material grades correspond to ISO classifications M, K, N, and S. It is a single insert packaged individually, appropriate for job shops and production environments that require precise insert replacement without toolholder changeout.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING GEN3SYS XT series spade drill bodies accepting seat size 18 inserts with a 49/64 inch diameter. Verify toolholder seat size and series designation before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle secured against rotation. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert firmly without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping wedge for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Confirm insert orientation and seating before resuming cutting operations.
