The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 7C212P-0016AS is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling applications in demanding materials. Measuring 0.5 inches in diameter with a 140-degree point angle and a seat size of 12, this insert fits the GEN3SYS XT spade drill system. The AM300 PVD coating provides wear resistance and extended tool life when cutting stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine alloys. Manufactured to a C2 (K20) carbide grade, it delivers the hardness and edge retention required for production drilling in CNC machining centers and drill presses. Machinists and tooling specialists in metalworking and precision manufacturing operations are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in stainless steel and similarly abrasion-resistant metals where consistent hole quality and tool longevity are critical. The GEN3SYS XT platform is used in production and job-shop environments across aerospace, medical device, and general metalworking applications. The 0.5-inch diameter and seat size 12 configuration targets through-hole and blind-hole drilling in medium to light stock removal scenarios. It is sold individually and replaces worn inserts without requiring replacement of the entire spade drill body, reducing overall tooling cost per hole.
Designed for use with the Allied Machine and Engineering GEN3SYS XT spade drill body system, seat size 12, accepting a 0.5-inch diameter insert.
Installation and replacement of spade drill inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct insert seating torque as specified by the tool body manufacturer documentation for the GEN3SYS XT system — do not exceed the specified clamp screw torque, as over-tightening can damage the insert seat. Inspect the seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify correct insert orientation before securing and before returning the spindle to service.
