The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 7C118P-18 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in steel and hard materials. Built to the GEN3SYS XT series standard, this insert features a 140-degree point angle and an AM300 PVD coating that extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With an 18 mm cutting diameter and a seat size 18 designation, it fits directly into compatible GEN3SYS XT spade drill holders. The manufacturer grade is C1 (K35), indicating a fine-grain carbide substrate suited for both general-purpose steel and harder workpieces. This insert is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians in CNC drilling and production boring applications.
The 7C118P-18 is intended for use in metal-cutting operations where consistent hole quality and tool life are priorities. Primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials, classified under material codes P and H. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on machining centers and drill presses in metalworking environments. The GEN3SYS XT platform is a modular spade drilling system, and this insert is sold individually for easy replacement without changing the full drill body assembly.
Designed for use with GEN3SYS XT series spade drill holders accepting seat size 18 inserts. Compatible primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials as designated by material codes P and H.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the holder manufacturer to secure the insert to the correct clamp torque for the seat size. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Follow your facility safety procedures and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements during any tooling changeout.
