The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 4C21P-.921 is a solid carbide spade drill insert engineered for high-performance drilling applications in demanding materials. Designed for the GEN2 T-A spade drill system with a Seat Size 1 holder, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and an AM300 PVD coating applied to a C2 (K20) carbide grade substrate. The AM300 coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability, extending tool life when cutting difficult workpiece materials. Weighing 0.1 pounds and measuring approximately 1.5 inches in length and 1.5 inches in width, this insert is a direct replacement component for compatible T-A spade drill bodies used in production and job-shop machining environments.
This insert is suited for machining stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, super-alloys, and titanium — material classifications M, K, N, and S. It is intended for use by machinists and tooling specialists operating CNC machining centers, lathes, or manual drill presses where spade drill tooling is employed. The 59/64-inch diameter and Seat Size 1 designation make it a fit for corresponding GEN2 T-A spade drill holders in both through-coolant and dry cutting setups.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 1 insert at 59/64-inch diameter. Compatible primary workpiece material classifications include M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous metals), and S (super-alloys and titanium).
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out all machine spindles before handling or seating the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert screw — do not overtighten or use impact drivers. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper geometry and runout.
