The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 4C21P-0030 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining applications. Built to GEN2 T-A series specifications, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and an AM300 PVD coating that extends tool life when cutting through abrasive and work-hardening materials. At 15/16 inch in diameter with a Seat Size 1 classification, it mounts into compatible GEN2 T-A spade drill holders. The C2 (K20) carbide grade delivers the hardness and wear resistance required for production-volume drilling. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in high-volume job shop or aerospace environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium — workpiece material codes M, K, N, and S. It is commonly used in horizontal and vertical machining centers where indexable spade tooling replaces solid twist drills to reduce cycle time and tooling cost. The AM300 PVD coating provides thermal stability and reduced built-up edge when cutting sticky or high-strength alloys. It is sold individually and is a direct replacement insert for worn or chipped inserts already in service on compatible holders.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 1 insert at 15/16 inch diameter. Specific holder compatibility should be verified against Allied Machine and Engineering GEN2 T-A holder documentation before ordering.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any indexable insert. Use the correct torque driver specified by the holder manufacturer for the insert clamping screw — do not over-tighten or use impact tools on the clamp screw. Inspect the holder seat for chips, debris, or wear before installing a new insert, as seat damage will affect runout and tool life.
