The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 483H-0118 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Measuring 1-9/16 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle, this insert fits Seat Size 3 holders and is manufactured from Premium Cobalt substrate. It carries an AM200 PVD coating that extends tool life in abrasive and hard materials. At 0.25 inches thick, the insert delivers rigid cutting geometry suited to production drilling environments. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians install and index this insert on the shop floor or in CNC machining cells.
This insert is part of the GEN2 T-A series from Allied Machine and Engineering, a line engineered for versatility across a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is used in both job-shop and production settings where consistent hole quality and insert longevity are required. The fractional-inch sizing and Seat Size 3 specification make it a direct-fit option for compatible T-A style spade drill holders already in use on the floor.
Designed for use with Seat Size 3 T-A style spade drill holders in the GEN2 T-A series. Compatible workpiece material classifications include P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (superalloys and titanium), and H (hard materials).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing the insert, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert flush against the holder pocket and torque the clamping screw according to the holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the seat and pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent seating errors or premature edge failure.
