The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 483H-0115 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding machining applications. With a 1-15/32 inch diameter and a Seat Size 3 designation for the GEN2 T-A platform, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and an AM200 PVD coating applied over the cobalt substrate. The AM200 coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation, extending tool life in interrupted cuts and continuous drilling cycles. At 0.1 pounds and 0.25 inches thick, it is a compact, drop-in replacement insert for machinists running GEN2 T-A spade drill bodies.
This insert is suited for production drilling operations in job shops, contract machining facilities, and manufacturing environments where consistent hole quality is required across a range of workpiece materials. The GEN2 T-A platform is a common choice for high-volume drilling on CNC machining centers and lathes. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material classifications P, M, K, S, and H.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING GEN2 T-A series spade drill bodies accepting Seat Size 3 inserts. Suitable for workpiece materials classified as Steel, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, Super-alloys and Titanium, and Hard Material.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated. Seat the insert fully against the drill body pocket before torquing the clamping screw to the tool body manufacturer's specified value. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can cause runout and premature insert failure. Follow the drill body manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the target workpiece material and hole depth.
