The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 454T-0129 is a cobalt spade drill insert from the GEN2 T-A series, designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding industrial machining applications. At 1-29/32 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle and a PVD-applied TiN coating, this insert delivers consistent cutting performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The seat size 4 designation matches it to compatible GEN2 T-A spade drill holders. Weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a single-insert package intended for professional CNC machining and heavy-duty drilling operations. The cobalt substrate provides added toughness and heat resistance compared to standard high-speed steel, making it well suited for interrupted cuts and challenging alloys.
The 454T-0129 is designed for use in production machining environments where deep-hole or large-diameter drilling is required. It is applicable across a broad material range including carbon and alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. Typical applications include boring on CNC lathes, vertical machining centers, and horizontal boring mills. The GEN2 T-A spade drill system is widely used in aerospace, oil and gas, die and mold, and general metalworking shops where cycle time and insert life are critical concerns. This insert is installed by CNC machinists and tooling setup technicians.
Designed for use with seat size 4 GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders from Allied Machine and Engineering. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials as designated by ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Always ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the holder pocket and torque the retaining screw according to the holder manufacturer's specification sheet for the applicable seat size. Inspect the holder pocket for chips or wear before installing a new insert, as debris or pocket damage will affect insert seating and runout.
