The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 453T-0125 is a cobalt spade drill insert engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Measuring 1-25/32 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle, this insert is part of the GEN2 T-A series and seats in a Size 3 holder. It features a TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life by reducing surface friction and resisting heat buildup at the cutting edge. At 0.25 inches thick and manufactured to fractional inch standards, it is designed for precision, repeatable hole quality in production environments. Machinists and toolroom professionals rely on this insert for consistent performance across high-volume drilling operations.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. It fits into GEN2 T-A spade drill blade holders sized for Seat Size 3 bodies. Typical install scenarios include CNC machining centers, turning centers, and manual drill presses where repeatable hole geometry and tool longevity are priorities. The cobalt substrate provides added toughness compared to standard high-speed steel, making it appropriate for interrupted cuts and work-hardening materials like stainless steel and superalloys.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill blade holders accepting a Seat Size 3 insert. Suitable for ISO workpiece material groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (superalloys and titanium), and H (hard materials).
Installation and replacement of spade drill inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate insert seating tool or torque wrench recommended by the holder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-tightening, which can crack the insert or damage the seat. Inspect the blade holder seat for chips, burrs, or wear before installing a new insert. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine guarding requirements during setup and operation.
