The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 451H-0029 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial applications. Manufactured from Super Cobalt and finished with an AM200 PVD coating, this insert delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat buildup at the cutting edge. It features a 132-degree point angle suited for aggressive entry into hard and tough workpiece materials. Part of the GEN2 T-A series, the insert measures 29/32 inch in diameter with a Seat Size 1 body and a thickness of 0.1563 inches. It is installed and changed by machinists and toolroom technicians working with modular spade drill systems.
This insert is intended for use in GEN2 T-A spade drill holders in machining centers, lathes, and drill presses. The AM200 PVD coating and Super Cobalt substrate make it well suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. It is a common choice in production environments where consistent hole geometry and long insert life are required across varied workpiece materials.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 1 insert. Compatible workpiece material categories include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification codes.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the holder pocket and torque the clamping screw using the appropriate T-A series wrench — do not overtighten or use impact tools on the clamp screw. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or debris before each insert change to maintain hole accuracy and prevent premature insert failure.
