The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 450H-0021 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. This insert measures 21/32 inches in diameter, features a 132-degree point angle, and carries a Seat Size 0 designation. It is coated with AM200 via a PVD process, which enhances wear resistance and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. At 0.125 inches thick, the insert seats securely into compatible GEN2 T-A spade drill holders. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments where consistent hole geometry and insert-to-holder repeatability are critical.
The 450H-0021 is suited for drilling into a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The GEN2 T-A series platform is commonly used in CNC machining centers, lathes, and drilling machines where modular insert-style tooling reduces per-hole cost and simplifies changeovers. The fractional inch sizing makes this insert a straightforward fit for shops operating in standard inch-based measurement systems.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill holder bodies accepting Seat Size 0 inserts in fractional inch sizing. Compatible with applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO material group codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation and changeover should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and all axes at a safe position. The insert must be seated fully and secured with the appropriate torque wrench per the holder manufacturer guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the holder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the cutting parameters recommended for the holder body and workpiece material combination.
