The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 24030S-125L is an indexable spade drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in a wide range of metalworking applications. Part of the T-A 3 series, it accepts interchangeable spade blade inserts to eliminate the cost of regrinding solid drills. The drill covers a diameter range of 1-13/32 inches to 1-7/8 inches with a maximum drill depth of 8-1/4 inches. The straight flute design and through-coolant capability via axial concentric and radial coolant ports support chip evacuation and thermal management at the cutting zone. Machining professionals in job shops and production environments rely on this tool for general-purpose boring in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other common workpiece materials.
The 24030S-125L is suited for CNC machining centers and manual boring mills where a 1-1/4-inch cylindrical, flatted shank is compatible with the spindle or tool holder. With a 13-1/2-inch overall length and a 9-1/2-inch body length, it reaches into deeper bores without requiring an extension. The T-A 3 series platform is a standard system in high-volume drilling operations across aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, and general manufacturing. Installation is performed by qualified machinists familiar with indexable tooling setup procedures.
Designed for use with the Allied Machine and Engineering T-A 3 series indexable spade blade insert system. Compatible with universal primary workpiece material classifications H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, non-metals, steels, and heat-resistant superalloys.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the tool holder. Verify that the flatted shank seats correctly in the holder and that all set screws engage the flat to prevent rotation under cutting loads. Confirm coolant line connections to the 1/4-inch NPT coolant ports are leak-free before running the spindle.
