The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 24020H-003I is an indexable spade drill body from the T-A 2 series, designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials. It accepts interchangeable spade drill inserts and produces holes from 31/32 inches to 1-3/8 inches in diameter, with a maximum drill depth of 7-3/8 inches. The helical flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the through-coolant design delivers cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone for improved tool life and hole quality. Shank connection is a 3MT taper with a 15/16-inch shank diameter, making it compatible with standard Morse taper spindles. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom professionals on CNC machining centers and manual drilling equipment.
The 24020H-003I is suited for production and job-shop drilling applications across universal workpiece material groups, including ferrous, nonferrous, cast iron, and exotic alloys as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. With a 13-25/32-inch overall length and a 10-15/64-inch body length, it is a standard-length configuration appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in typical fixturing setups. Coolant entry is via 2-radial entry ports with 1/8-inch NPT coolant hole thread size, and rotary coolant adapter compatibility is rated for the 2T-3SR adapter.
Designed for use with the T-A 2 series indexable spade drill insert system. Compatible rotary coolant adapter is the 2T-3SR. Suitable for universal workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or quill secured before mounting or removing the drill body. Verify that the Morse taper socket and shank are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the taper to ensure proper alignment and holding force. Confirm coolant line connections and thread integrity at the 1/8-inch NPT ports before initiating through-coolant flow.
