The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 23010H-003I is an indexable spade drill designed for deep-hole drilling applications in metal fabrication and machining environments. Part of the T-A 1 series, this tool covers a diameter range of 45/64 to 15/16 inches with a maximum drill depth of 4-3/4 inches and a helical flute geometry that supports chip evacuation during high-feed operations. The 3MT taper shank provides rigid, repeatable seating in compatible machine spindles. Through-coolant capability via radial entry ports helps maintain cutting temperatures and extend insert life. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on drill presses, machining centers, and lathes equipped with a 3 Morse taper spindle.
This intermediate-length spade drill is suited for general-purpose hole-making across a wide range of workpiece materials, including steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temp alloys as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The 11-5/32-inch overall length and 5-7/8-inch body length accommodate intermediate depth requirements without excessive overhang. The 4-3/4-inch flute length matches the rated maximum drill depth. Coolant is delivered through 1/8 NPT radial entry ports, and the tool is compatible with the 2T-3SR rotary coolant adapter for pressurized coolant systems.
Designed for use with machine spindles accepting a 3 Morse taper (3MT) shank. Compatible with the 2T-3SR rotary coolant adapter. Suitable for general-purpose drilling in workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the T-A 1 series classification system.
Installation requires a machine spindle with a 3MT taper bore; ensure the taper bore and shank are clean and free of nicks before seating. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the drill body. Verify coolant port connections and adapter compatibility before engaging pressurized coolant flow. Insert indexing and torque should follow the tool manufacturer's insert specification sheet for the selected insert grade.
