The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C53A-0116 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in steel and hard materials. Built to T-A series specifications, this insert measures 1-1/2 inches in diameter and seats in a Size 3 holder. The 132-degree point angle promotes accurate entry and chip control in demanding applications. A PVD-applied TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended cutting-edge life at elevated speeds. At 0.25 inches thick and a manufacturer grade of C5 (P40), the insert is suited for interrupted cuts and abrasive workpieces where coating durability is critical.
This insert is intended for use in T-A series spade drill bodies with a Size 3 seat. Typical applications include production drilling in ferrous metals, alloy steels, and hard materials in machining centers, CNC lathes, and turret machines. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in job shops, production facilities, and manufacturing environments where indexable spade drilling systems are standard tooling practice.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill bodies accepting a Size 3 seat insert. Intended for drilling steel and hard materials as indicated by workpiece material codes P and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw driver specified by the tool body manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
