The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C52T-0102 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in steel and hard materials. Part of the T-A series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life by reducing friction and wear at the cutting edge. At 1-1/16 inches in diameter with a Seat Size 2 designation, it fits directly into compatible T-A series spade drill holders. It is typically installed by machinists and tooling technicians in production drilling operations on CNC machining centers, manual lathes, and drill presses.
This insert is suited for drilling into steel and hard materials in both job-shop and production environments. The T-A series platform is a modular indexable spade drill system that allows the insert to be replaced independently of the holder, reducing tooling cost per hole. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in structural steel, alloy steel, and similarly rated workpiece materials classified under ISO material grade P and H. It is sold individually, making it a practical replacement option for worn or chipped inserts already in service.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holders that accept a Seat Size 2 insert at 1-1/16 inch diameter. Primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P and H.
Installation is performed by tooling technicians or machinists. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the holder seat is clean and free of chips or debris before placing the insert, as contamination at the seating surface can cause runout and premature failure. Follow the holder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw — do not over-tighten, as this can crack carbide inserts.
