The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C52A-0101 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in steel and hard materials. Part of the T-A Series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The seat size 2 configuration fits compatible T-A Series spade drill holders. At 0.1875 inches thick and a diameter of 1-1/32 inches, it delivers consistent hole geometry in production and job shop environments. Manufactured to C5 (P40) material grade, it is well suited for interrupted cuts and continuous feed operations in ferrous materials.
This insert is intended for use in T-A Series spade drill holder assemblies in CNC machining centers, lathes, and drill presses where large-diameter hole drilling is required. Primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials, making it a practical choice for mold and die work, structural component drilling, and heavy manufacturing. Machinists and tooling specialists working in production environments will find this insert appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole applications where carbide rigidity and coating durability are required.
Designed for use with T-A Series seat size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials as classified under P and H material codes. Verify holder seat size and insert diameter before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat and insert mating surfaces should be clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Use the correct insert screw torque driver specified by the holder manufacturer — do not overtighten or use impact tools. Inspect the holder seat for wear or damage whenever inserts are changed.
