The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C51A-.921 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for precision hole-making in steel and hard materials. It features a 132-degree point angle and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life in demanding cutting applications. The insert seats into a Seat Size 1 T-A series holder and delivers consistent performance in high-production drilling environments. At 0.1563 inches thick and weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a compact, high-performance cutting insert used by machinists and tooling technicians across manufacturing and metal fabrication operations.
This insert is sized at 59/64 inches in diameter and is intended for use in T-A series Seat Size 1 spade drill holders. It is suited for drilling steel and hard materials in both CNC machining centers and conventional drilling setups. The C5 (P40) carbide grade makes it appropriate for general-purpose steel cutting, including carbon steels, alloy steels, and hard ferrous workpieces. It fits standard T-A series tooling systems and is a direct replacement insert for worn or chipped tooling without requiring a new holder.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holders in Seat Size 1. Primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials, corresponding to material codes P and H. Confirm holder seat size before ordering to ensure proper fit.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable safety procedures. Seat the insert flush against the holder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the holder manufacturer's specification — do not estimate torque by feel. Inspect the holder seat for wear or debris before installing a new insert, as a damaged seat will affect runout and tool life. Follow the tooling manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for feed rate and spindle speed based on workpiece material.
