The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C50A-.578 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in steel and hard materials. Measuring 37/64 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle, this insert delivers precise entry geometry suited to demanding metalworking applications. The PVD-applied TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during high-speed cutting. At a thickness of 0.125 inches, the insert seats into a Size 0 T-A series holder. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with steel and hard stock will find this insert engineered to maintain edge integrity under sustained cutting loads.
This insert is intended for use in T-A series spade drill holders in Size 0 seat configurations. It is suited to production drilling operations in steel and hard materials, including applications where heat generation and tool wear are primary concerns. The TiAlN coating and C5 (P40) carbide grade make it appropriate for interrupted cuts and general-purpose through-hole drilling in ferrous and hard workpiece materials. It is commonly used in machining centers, lathes, and drill press setups where spade drill tooling is the preferred method.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Size 0 seat insert. Primary workpiece material codes P and H indicate suitability for steel and hard material applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with spade drill tooling systems. Ensure the holder and machine spindle are fully secured and the machine is powered down before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the holder manufacturer to avoid over-tightening or damaging the seat. Inspect the seat for chips or debris before each insert change to maintain accurate positioning.
