The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C22T-0102 is a carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Built to T-A series specifications, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiN coating over a C2 (K20) carbide substrate. The TiN coating reduces friction and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. At 1-1/16 inches in diameter and 0.1875 inches in thickness, the insert seats into a Seat Size 2 T-A series holder. Installation and setup are typically performed by machinists and CNC operators in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The 132-degree point geometry provides a more aggressive cutting action appropriate for harder and more work-hardening materials such as stainless and titanium alloys. The T-A series system is a modular spade drilling platform where the insert is held mechanically in a reusable blade and holder assembly, making insert changeover fast without removing the tool from the spindle. Typical applications include production drilling on CNC machining centers, lathes, and drill presses across aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking industries.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING T-A series Seat Size 2 spade drill blades and compatible holders. Insert is specific to the T-A series modular spade drilling system and is not interchangeable with other spade drill platforms.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat and blade surfaces should be inspected and cleaned before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature failure. Torque the insert retaining screw to the tool manufacturer specification found in the T-A series holder documentation. Verify runout and insert seating before resuming production cuts.
