The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C22A-30 is a carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling applications in demanding metalworking environments. Measuring 30.00 mm in diameter with a 132-degree point angle, this insert seats into Size 2 spade drill bodies and delivers precise, repeatable hole geometry. The insert is manufactured from C2 (K20) grade carbide and features a TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life when cutting through abrasive and heat-generating workpiece materials. Thickness is 0.1875 inches. This insert is part of the established T-A series product line used widely in production machining operations.
The 1C22A-30 is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. These workpiece categories correspond to material codes M, K, N, and S, covering a broad range of industrial machining scenarios. Typical applications include production drilling on CNC machining centers and drill presses in job shops, aerospace fabrication, and general manufacturing facilities. The TiAlN coating is particularly effective when cutting speeds generate elevated cutting-zone temperatures, making this insert a practical choice for difficult-to-machine alloys.
Designed for use with Seat Size 2 T-A series spade drill bodies. Suitable for workpiece materials including stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium as indicated by material codes M, K, N, and S.
Spade drill inserts should be installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician using the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer. Ensure the drill body seat and clamping screw are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Inspect the seat for wear or damage prior to each insert change. Always follow machine lockout and tagout procedures before performing any tooling changes on powered equipment.
