The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C22A-1.046 is a solid carbide spade drill insert engineered for precision hole-making in demanding industrial applications. Part of the T-A Series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting environments. Manufactured to Seat Size 2 with a thickness of 0.1875 inches, it is designed for use in compatible T-A Series spade drill holders. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists install this insert in CNC machining centers and production drilling operations where consistent bore diameter and tool life are critical.
This insert is sized at 1-3/64 inches in diameter and is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium. These are among the most demanding workpiece materials in metalworking, and the C2 (K20) carbide grade combined with TiAlN coating provides the hardness and thermal resistance needed for productive cutting speeds in those materials. Typical applications include production machining in aerospace, oil and gas, and general manufacturing environments where through-coolant or flood coolant is commonly used.
Designed for use with T-A Series Seat Size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys and titanium. Confirm holder seat size and insert diameter match your application before installation.
This insert should be installed and replaced by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with T-A Series spade drill systems. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the holder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque — do not use substitute tools or improvised fasteners. Inspect the holder seat for chips, wear, or damage each time the insert is changed to maintain bore accuracy and prevent premature insert failure.
