The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C22A-0105 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. Manufactured to Seat Size 2 and compatible with the T-A series modular spade drill system, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. At 0.1875 inches thick and 1-5/32 inches in diameter, it delivers precise bore sizing with the rigidity expected from a solid carbide grade C2 (K20) substrate. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this insert for production drilling applications where surface finish and dimensional accuracy matter.
This insert is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, super-alloys, and titanium — workpiece material codes M, K, N, and S respectively. It fits T-A series spade drill holders at Seat Size 2 and is a common selection in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and dedicated drilling stations across job shops and production facilities. Applications include structural component drilling, fixture fabrication, and precision-bore work in aerospace, oil and gas, and general metalworking environments.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and super-alloys and titanium (S) as specified by the manufacturer.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable safety procedures. Seat surfaces on the holder should be cleaned and inspected before seating the insert to ensure full contact and proper clamping torque. Refer to the holder manufacturer torque specifications for the appropriate clamping screw — do not estimate. Cutting parameters including speed, feed, and coolant flow should be set per the Allied Machine and Engineering T-A series application guide for the specific workpiece material.
