The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 182T-0112 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole making in demanding metalworking applications. Sized at 1-3/8 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle, this insert fits Seat Size 2 holders in the T-A series system. The TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating extends cutting edge life and reduces friction during chip evacuation. At 0.1875 inches thick, the insert maintains rigidity under load. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert into compatible T-A series spade drill bodies for production drilling operations requiring consistent geometry and repeatable hole quality.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is commonly used in production machining environments — manual mills, CNC machining centers, and lathe turrets — where controlled chip formation and extended tool life are priorities. The T-A series system allows fast insert indexing without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing downtime on production runs.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 2 spade drill bodies. Rated for primary workpiece material classifications P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (super-alloys and titanium), and H (hard materials).
Insert seating and torquing should be performed by a qualified machinist following the drill body manufacturer's fastener specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or burrs before installing a new insert, as debris under the insert can cause premature failure or poor hole geometry. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine tool operating procedures when working with rotating cutting tools.
