The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 182T-0102 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Part of the T-A series, this insert measures 1-1/16 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle and a seat size 2 configuration. The insert is 0.1875 inches thick and features a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating that improves surface hardness and extends cutting life. It weighs 0.1 pounds. Machinists and tooling technicians install this insert into compatible T-A series spade drill holders on manual or CNC machining centers.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in ferrous and exotic workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The T-A series insert-and-holder system is commonly used in production machining environments where replacing only the cutting insert — rather than the entire drill body — reduces tooling cost and downtime. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on lathes, machining centers, and drill presses where a 1-1/16-inch bore diameter is required.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING T-A series spade drill holders accepting a seat size 2 insert. Compatible with primary workpiece material codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (super-alloys and titanium), and H (hard material).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the spade drill insert. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the holder pocket before torquing the clamping screw — an improperly seated insert can cause runout, premature wear, or insert breakage. Follow the drill body manufacturer's clamping specifications and inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before each use.
