The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 181T-20 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Sized at 20 mm in diameter with a 132-degree point angle, this insert fits Seat Size 1 holders in the T-A spade drill system. The insert is PVD-coated with titanium nitride (TiN) and measures 0.1563 inches in thickness. It is intended for production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality and tool life are priorities. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. These workpiece material classifications correspond to ISO codes P, M, K, S, and H. The T-A series is a widely used indexable spade drill platform in both CNC and conventional machining environments, covering a broad range of through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations in industrial and job-shop settings.
Designed for use with Seat Size 1 holders in the Allied Machine and Engineering T-A spade drill system. Compatible with workpiece materials classified as steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys and titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes P, M, K, S, H).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate insert screw torque driver recommended for the specific T-A holder to avoid seat damage or insert movement under load. Inspect the holder seat for chips, wear, or debris before seating the new insert.
