The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 180T-14.5 is a spade drill insert engineered for high-performance hole-making in demanding industrial applications. Manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, this insert delivers improved wear resistance and extended tool life compared to uncoated tooling. It features a 132-degree point angle suited for general-purpose drilling geometry and fits a Seat Size 0 holder in the T-A spade drill system. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production shops install these inserts as the consumable cutting element in compatible T-A series spade drill holders.
This insert is designed for drilling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is appropriate for both manual and CNC drilling applications in manufacturing, aerospace, heavy equipment, and general metalworking environments. The T-A series system is a modular design that allows the cutting insert to be replaced independently of the drill holder, reducing tooling cost per hole in high-volume production runs.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 0 insert. Workpiece material compatibility includes steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per standard ISO material classification codes.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be powered down and locked out before changing inserts. Insert seating screws should be tightened using the appropriate T-A series torque key supplied by the holder manufacturer — do not substitute fasteners or use impact drivers. Verify insert seating and holder condition before resuming cutting operations.
