The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 180T-0022 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. It measures 11/16 inches in diameter and carries a 132-degree point angle, which promotes clean entry and reduces thrust forces in a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating that increases surface hardness and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. At 0.125 inches thick and weighing approximately 0.1 pounds, it is sized for Seat Size 0 holders in the T-A spade drill system. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The T-A series platform is commonly found in CNC machining centers, lathes, and drill presses where high-volume hole production is required. Its cobalt substrate provides elevated heat resistance compared to standard high-speed steel inserts, making it a practical choice for interrupted cuts and work-hardening alloys. Applications span aerospace, automotive, die-and-mold, and general metalworking industries.
Designed for use with Seat Size 0 holders in the Allied Machine and Engineering T-A spade drill system. Suitable for workpiece material classifications P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (super-alloys and titanium), and H (hard materials).
Insert replacement and seating should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before removing or installing any cutting insert. Use the correct torque driver or insert key specified for the T-A holder to secure the insert without over-tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat for chips or contamination before installation to ensure proper seating and runout performance.
