The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 153T-0126 is a spade drill insert engineered for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Manufactured from Super Cobalt and finished with a PVD-applied TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this insert delivers extended tool life and heat resistance at the cutting edge. It features a 132-degree point angle suited for flat-bottomed entry and reduced thrust in tough materials. At 0.25 inches thick and designed for Seat Size 3 holders in the T-A series, it fits a broad range of compatible spade drill bodies used in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium — material codes P, M, K, and S in the ISO classification system. The T-A series is a modular spade drilling system widely used in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and lathes where indexable tooling is preferred over solid drills. The 1-13/16 inch diameter makes this insert applicable to large-diameter through-hole and blind-hole operations in heavy manufacturing, aerospace component work, and general metalworking.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill bodies that accept a Seat Size 3 insert. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium per ISO material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle powered down and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Seat and insert contact surfaces should be cleaned and inspected before seating the insert to ensure proper clamping force and runout. Follow the drill body manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material being cut.
