The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 152T-34 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Part of the T-A series, this insert measures 34.00 mm in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle suited for aggressive material entry with reduced thrust. It is manufactured from Super Cobalt and carries a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, which improves surface hardness and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. With a thickness of 0.1875 inches, this insert seats into a Size 2 holder and is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual lathes with drilling capability.
This insert is rated for use on a broad range of primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. These material classifications correspond to ISO workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. It is appropriate for both production machining and job-shop environments where a single drill body is used across multiple material types. The T-A interchangeable insert system allows fast insert swaps without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing setup time in high-volume operations.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill bodies accepting a Size 2 insert seat. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. The spindle must be fully stopped and the machine locked out before inserting or removing the drill insert. Seat the insert fully into the holder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the drill body manufacturer's specified value using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before each use, as contamination can cause insert rocking and accelerated wear.
