The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 152N-0105 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in metalworking applications. Part of the T-A series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) PVD coating that extends tool life in demanding cutting environments. The insert measures 1-5/32 inches in diameter with a seat size 2 designation for use with compatible T-A series holders. At 0.1875 inches thick, it is built for rigidity during interrupted cuts and deep drilling operations. Machinists and tooling professionals in production and job-shop environments rely on this insert for consistent hole geometry across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium. It fits within the T-A series modular spade drilling system, which separates the insert from the holder, allowing the cutting edge to be replaced independently without discarding the holder body. Typical applications include CNC machining centers and manual drilling operations requiring accurate, repeatable holes in hard and abrasion-resistant materials. The cobalt substrate provides added toughness over standard high-speed steel in elevated cutting temperatures.
Designed for use with T-A series seat size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S) per ISO material classification codes.
Installation of spade drill inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is secured before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the holder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque without over-tightening the insert screw. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation to ensure full contact and accurate positioning.
