The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 152A-35-SP is a spade drill insert from the T-A series, designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding industrial machining applications. This insert measures 35 mm in diameter with a 90-degree point angle and is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel for enhanced toughness and heat resistance. A PVD-applied TiAlN coating adds surface hardness and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in high-speed cutting conditions. At 0.1875 inches thick and weighing approximately 0.05 pounds, it fits Seat Size 2 T-A series drill bodies. It is installed by machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for drilling through steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. The T-A spade drill system is widely used in CNC machining centers, lathes, and dedicated drilling machines where replaceable insert tooling reduces downtime and cost compared to solid drill replacements. The 90-degree point angle promotes accurate entry and is well matched to flat-bottomed or through-hole operations in the listed workpiece materials. This insert is a direct replacement-style component for Seat Size 2 T-A holders already in service on the shop floor.
Designed as a replacement insert for ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING T-A series spade drill holders with a Seat Size 2 designation. Compatible workpiece material classifications include P (Steel), M (Stainless Steel), K (Cast Iron), and S (Super-alloys and Titanium).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool holder secured before inserting or removing the spade drill insert. Seat and insert mating surfaces should be clean and free of chips or debris before seating to ensure accurate location and clamping. Follow the drill body manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as this can damage the insert seat.
